We are going to have another tournament in Spain, this time in sunny Alicante, on a clay court. Dutch talent Tallon Griekspoor and Spanish veteran Tommy Robredo are going to meet in the first round of Ferrero Challenger Open. Both talented players will play in a serious confrontation. Review our thoughts on this match here below.

Tallon Griekspoor

Tallon Griekspoor – this kid was a surprise in the tennis world. One of his most memorable achievements was in his homeland when he managed to overcome against Karen Khachanov. However, this was not an accidental win. In the next round, he fought very well and went into a tiebreak against Mr. Tsonga, but after that, he gave up mentally and lost the match. In this season, the Dutch played quite a lot. He had already 7 tournaments and also represented his country at Davis Cup. At the moment he cannot win any match and this continues in 4 different tournaments. But now he‘s starting a new page on his favorite surface – clay. In the previous season, Tallon won his first trophy on clay.

Griekspoor playing style is quite solid. His physical data is particularly good and that makes him be a good first server and also great on the baseline. As mentioned before, his favorite surface is clay and we can see that in his playing style, he‘s very aggressive on the court. Tallon has a great forehand. Last year he won his first ATP match against Stan Wawrinka. After the match, Swiss said: “I was not surprised by his level, I expected a tough match… He showed that he has great potential”.

Tommy Robredo

Tommy Robredo is a Spanish tennis player. In his prime, he was fifth in ATP ranking, but now his great days are going into a shadow. In this season, most of his games were played on a hard surface. The results were not the best – 1 win and 3 losses. But now he‘s going to start on his favorite surface. Tommy is a great baseliner, who can play aggressively and defensively really well. He is good from both wings. In his prime, Robredo single-handed backhand was considered one of the best on the tour. Being clutch during important points. Anyway, the first serve is not his main weapon due to lack of pace. But overall this player is very talented.
