Tennys Sandgren
27 years old 72nd ranked American enjoys playing at his home crowd and it could have been felt by watching him playing today against Mannarino. Sandgren were placed as an underdog for this match but has comfortably defeated the Frenchman in straight sets 6-4 6-1. It just feels like everything is working for the American and home crowd is boosting him emotionally as well which leads to reaching the quarter-final here. Tennys has shown himself at Wimbledon this year where he only lost at R16 against Sam Querrey after a tough battle. Overall Sandgren has won 7 out of 9 matches played and is playing at his peak form since the Wimbledon. Expect him to continue playing at 100% as he is slowly but surely becoming a real contender for the title.
Alexander Bublik
A young, 22 years old player from Kazakhstan is also denying the odds at this tournament. While only being ranked 83rd overall Bublik has defeated bookmakers favorites A.Bolt and V.Troicki at first two stages. Both matches were close ones and ended up in 3 sets, but Bublik has managed to stay calm and come out as a winner. Alexander is tall, can serve well and can play the ball into a good opportunity to strike. He’s a smart player and his playstyle fits the ground very well. This year is only the 3rd one as he plays on the grass and has already made a great improvement since the last season. Bublik won’t be the favorite for tomorrow’s match but he is definitely the player who can’t be underestimated.
