Tennys Sandgren
27 years old American is playing his 3rd season on the grass and is doing a lot better this year than he did previously. Sandgren were mainly playing on hard grounds but this year he’s translated his talent to grass and adapted to this ground very well. 6 wins out of 8 matches played and defeating players like Fognini and Simon is a great result. Tennys has even reached the R16 of Wimbledon while being placed as an underdog for most of his matches there. He’s a real fighter who doesn’t give up on any point and that’s one of the reasons why is he tough to play against. Sandgren has improved his overall game and mental state throughout the past few tournaments and should not be underestimated here.
Adrian Mannarino
62nd ranked 31 years old Frenchman has also won 6 out of 8 matches he played on the grass just like his tomorrow’s opponent. Mannarino has earned his name as one of the better players on grass as his career win rate on this ground proves it – 73/118 which translates to 62%. Mannarino has also managed to win a tournament on the grass at Hertogenbosch this year while also being placed as an underdog in most of the matches he played but proved everyone wrong. After an early exit at Wimbledon, where he came short against Cilic in 3 sets, Mannarino will definitely want to prove himself again here and there should be no doubt about his motivation for this tournament.
