20 years old, currently 6th ranked Greek have managed to save the points that he’s got from this tournament last year, where Tsitsipas got into the semi-final but fell short against A. Zverev. Now the Greek has a good chance to improve his previous record by winning the semi-final and fighting for the title. Tsitsipas had absolutely no problems to reach this stage as he hasn’t even lost a single set throughout his first 3 matches against T. Paul, J. Thompson and B. Paire. Stefanos is playing similar tennis compared to Kyrgios, but is a lot better prepared mentally and doesn’t do unnecessary stuff only to make fun. Tsitsipas is a real professional and there is a high chance we’ll see him in the final of this tournament.
23 years old Australian is currently ranked only 53rd overall. There were a lot of question marks after his first 2 matches here if he really wants to win or he’s just warming up before US Open because his behavior was not professional at all. But here we are and Nick really stepped up his game at the match against Gombos, where he managed to win some unbelievable points. There were never a question about this guy’s talent, but it just doesn’t seem to interest him as he’s only playing for fun and for the audience. Anyway, Kyrgios has mentioned this many times – when he’s facing a really tough opposition, especially if it’s some guys he admires, Nick always gives his best. Let’s hope to see him playing at the highest level he can to show what he’s truly capable of against one of the best players today.
