1/64 finals of Roland Garros and an interesting game is waiting for us. Currently, 187th ranked Italian Simone Bolelli faces worlds 26th Frenchman Lucas Pouille. Ratings should not be overestimated here as the tournament itself is hardly predictable and everyone tries to show their true worth. To have more insights on this Simone Bolelli vs Lucas Pouille ATP match please check out our preview below.
Simone Bolelli
Bolelli should not be underestimated due to his current ATP ranking. He is a great all-around player but has some psychical issues that don’t let him reach better results. Unlike some challenger tournaments he is giving his best and any time he qualifies to ATP500. At ATP1000 or even a Grand Slam, he can give a good fight to anyone. Bolelli qualified for this French Open quite comfortably as he beat Majchrzak and Soeda in straight sets while only giving one set away to Koepfer. If Simone can keep up his cool and not lose his mind over some mistakes it’s possible he will make the game very tough for Pouille.
Lucas Pouille
Pouille is kinda similar to Bolelli given how unstable and inconsistent he is. The guy has a great all-around game with a strong forehand and ability to hit winners from all around the court but lacks psychical stability as he tends to lose his mind over some mistakes and finds it hard to recover. He finally showed us some of his capabilities in Bordeaux. He won the tournament but the level of competition was not the highest one. Given the fact that Pouille will play at home, he will definitely have enough motivation to finally reach the biggest stage he has ever reached and the first test will start tomorrow against Italian Bolelli.
