The last quarterfinal of an ATP 500 tournament in Beijing, China (hard). One of the veterans who thrives on his first serve will face off against one of the best young players we have on tour today. To have more insights on this ATP Sam Querrey vs Alexander Zverev match, please check out the preview below.
Sam Querrey
31 years old American, who is currently ranked only 55th overall has been struggling with injuries for a longer part of the year, but this is the time he’s finally looking healthy and playing well. Querrey is well known for his incredible first serve and a good all-around game for a big man. Sam has already pulled up 2 upsets in this tournament by defeating R. Bautista-Agut in straight sets in the first match and also took care of D. Schwartzman 2-1 earlier today. Querrey has been serving very well in this tournament and knowing that he managed to create some breakpoints against Schwartzman shows that Querrey’s all-around game has been on a high level as well.
Alexander Zverev
22 years old German is currently ranked 6th overall, but similar to other young top tier players he has been struggling with consistency lately. Anyway, Zverev came into this tournament swinging and hasn’t lost a single set yet. He’s defeated both F. Tiafoe and F.Auger-Alliasime in straight sets without giving any hope for any of them. That’s the kind of level we expect Zverev to play and this is how the 6th seed of ATP should look like. If the German could manage to translate this kind of momentum into tomorrow’s match his chances would be great. There are a lot of question marks on Zverev’s ability to perform against guys who have a great serve. So tomorrow will be a good test for the German.
