Pablo Carreno-Busta
Carreno is a 27 years old Spaniard currently ranked 59th overall. He’s used to be a Top10 player for quite some time before all of these injuries that started to happen one after the other. Busta has played only 16 matches this season and won half of them. It’s not that bad of a result given how many problems with injuries he had. However, knowing how good of a player he is everyone knows Busta can reach much more. Carreno has never been a good grass player and had only 1 win on this ground before entering this tournament. And – he’s already in semi-finals here. If he is fully healed and keeps playing at the same level he showed us in the first 2 rounds we might see him finally winning a championship on the grass.
Lorenzo Sonego
Lorenzo Sonego is a 24 years old Italian currently ranked 75 overall. Sonego used to win a lot of matches in lower-tier tournaments and challengers but this year he’s finally translated his game into the higher ranked tournaments as well. He’s mainly clay grounds player but has played some decent tennis on hard as well. Before entering this tournament in Antalya Sonego had won only 2 matches on the grass out of 7 he’s played. It means that he does not have a lot of experience on this ground. Anyway, this didn’t distract him from playing great tennis and reaching the semi-final. Based on what we’ve seen he did well, but to win against Busta tomorrow Sonego will have to show even more than he did before.
