The last match of qualification for the ATP Grand Slam, US Open (hard). A very interesting match is waiting for us as one of the rising Swedish tennis stars will face off against the Korean next generation star. To have more insights on this ATP Mikael Ymer vs Hyeon Chung match, please check out the preview below.

Mikael Ymer

20 years old Swedish, who is currently ranked 107th overall, is very close to his career-best ranking which is 105. Mikael Ymer mostly plays on clay and prefers this ground over others, but it doesn’t mean he can’t play on a hard surface as well. He’s had a good run on this ground last year by winning 8 out of 12 matches played and even better results this year. He’s won 10 out of 12 matches so far this season and is on a good run coming into the US Open. Ymer beat Kwiatkowski 2-1 and Bagnis in straight sets. If Ymer shows something similar to his previous matches tomorrow, he will have very good chances to win move to the main draw of US Open.

Hyeon Chung

23 years old, currently only 151st ranked Korean was being stopped by injuries for quite a long time, what led to a drop in rankings that much. Hyeon came back on the court not that long ago and mostly played in Challenger Series this season in order to recover his previous form. He’s been doing well by winning 12 out of 17 matches played, but he’s still nowhere near the player he used to be. Chung will still need a lot of time to improve his game step by step and there would be no surprise if he wouldn’t qualify for the main draw of the US Open. Will have to see how will look against a stronger opponent than the previous one’s tomorrow.
