First round of an ATP 1000 tournament at Cincinnati, USA (hard). A very interesting match is waiting for us at the opening round, as two players who’ve been playing well lately will face off against each other. To have more insights on this ATP Matteo Berrettini vs Juan Ignacio Londero match, please check out the preview below.
Matteo Berrettini
23 years old, currently 26th ranked Italian haven’t played yet since Wimbledon. Berrettini is having the best season of his career as he’s already won 34 out of 48 matches he played. He’s always been good on hard and clay, but this year he stepped up his grass game as well. Italian ended up the grass season with an 11-2 winning record, which translates to around 85%. This will be the first game for Matteo on hard since the Miami Open, and it will be very interesting to see him competing at the highest level once again. Berrettini has improved his game a lot on both clay and grass, and we might very well see him improving on hard as well, and victory tomorrow would be a pretty good start.
Juan Ignacio Londero
25 years old Argentinian is currently ranked 57th overall. Londero has always been known as a “clay’er”, and for sure, clay is the ground he plays the best at. He’s got around 66% win rate on clay this season, but tomorrow’s match will be a different story as the ground will be different. Londero hasn’t played a lot on the hard but has mentioned in his interviews that he’s been preparing a lot and we might see some improvements from him here. Londero’s playstyle could fit hard ground as well and this is only a question of time when will he start showing better results on it.
