1/8 finals of Madrid Tournament. Croatian M. Cilic meets Serbian L. Djere and this game should be interesting to watch due to both players current forms. Cilic finally found his rhythm on clay courts after losing some games earlier this season. While Djere won against Del Potro in a close game in 3 sets after breaking at 5 games each in the 3rd set. This one is going to be a really entertaining matchup in ATP Tour, so, please review our thoughts on this match here below.
Marin Cilic
Marin Cilic dropped out of Top 10 not too long ago and now is ranked 11 but still considered to be one of the top players at the moment. The only concern about him in this tournament is how well he adapts on clay. Because he is best known for playing on hard courts. Luckily Madrid’s clay is one of the fastest clays at all of the tournaments so that’s why most of the good hard players find it easier to adapt at this tournament. Overall Cilic seems to be in a good form and expect him to keep this form in this game as well.
Laslo Djere
On the other side of the court, we have young Serbian 23 y.o L. Djere. We’ve mentioned how unstable he is in higher ranked tournaments. And most of his wins come from lower ranked tournaments such as ATP 250 and Challenger series. Djere managed to win against Del Potro, who played his first game of the season today and couldn’t be managed to finish out the game after having the breaking point at 5-5 in 3rd set. It’s hard to imagine Djere beating Del Potro and Cilic in 2 days. Especially, after today’s match took over 2 hours time.
