1/8 final of the ATP 500 tournament in London, United Kingdom. There we have two great young talents facing off against each other. To have more insights on this ATP Lucas Pouille vs Daniil Medvedev match please check out the preview below.
Lucas Pouille
25 years old Frenchman is currently ranked 29th. He used to climb a little by little with each season but this year has been stagnant for him as he is winning as many games as he is losing. Pouille is considered to be one of the most underperforming players because his potential is a lot higher compared to what is he showing. Even though Pouille loves clay grounds he is not having his best time on this ground this season so far as well and that’s really concerning. He’s never been an impressive hard/grass player but it seems like he improved his game on grass throughout past matches. Pouille defeated Medvedev not that long ago in Stuttgart in 3 sets which means that he must come with a right mindset tomorrow because it’s always hard to beat the same opponent twice in such a short period of time.
Daniil Medvedev
Even though Daniil is only 23 years of age there are high expectations for him. He started the season in a dominant fashion as he’d won 25 out of 32 matches he played until now. Since losing in the grand final in Barcelona Medvedev looks like he’s lost the rhythm. 5 match losing streak were broken after the first victory at the Queens Club opening round against Fernando Verdasco. Medvedev started playing on grass only in 2016 and doesn’t have a lot of experience at this ground. Overall he is a very talented player who will definitely become a great player on this ground as well. He should have extra motivation for tomorrows game avenging Pouille for an earlier loss in Stuttgart a week ago.
