The first semi-final of an ATP 250 tournament at Umag, Croatia (clay). An exciting match is waiting for us as one of the favorites of the tournament will face off against a guy who had to through qualification stages and has managed to reach this stage. To have more insights on this ATP Laslo Djere vs Attila Balazs match please check out the preview below.

Laslo Djere

34 years old Serbian is close to returning back to his best career ranking at 27. He’s currently 32rd, but with a victory at this tournament, he might very well set a new career-high. And why not, Djere has all the chances in the world to do that as tomorrow’s opponent might not be the toughest of all that he’s faced before. It seems like Serbian is fully healthy which is a very important factor for a guy who tends to struggle with injuries past few seasons. Djere did not have a successful run on grass this season but he’s looking great on clay even after the break. Laslo has defeated Leonardo Mayer today in 3 sets and looked like a better player for most of the match. Expect him to stay on the winning way and do his best to surpass the previous career-high.

Attila Balazs

30 years old Hungarian is only being ranked 208th overall but has been performing very well lately. Balazs is mostly playing at challenger series. There he’s had some great performances this year including victories at Prostejov and Bratislava. Clay is the ground he plays on the most but has only participated at 3 ATP tournaments including this one at Umag. He’s only 1,8 m tall and doesn’t have a great serve which leads to some struggles at higher-ranked tournaments. Overall Attila is a good challenger – ATP 250 player but it’s very likely that against higher caliber players such as tomorrow’s opponent his journey at this tournament will end at the semi-final.
