Quarter-finals of an ATP 500 tournament at Beijing, China (hard). One of the well-known veterans will face off against rising Greek star in a very interesting match. To have more insights on this ATP John Isner vs Stefanos Tsitsipas match, please check out the preview below.
John Isner
34 years old, currently 19th ranked American is slowly but surely climbing up the rankings once again. After dealing with some injuries earlier this season, John has been performing very well lately has been showing this in Beijing as well. Isner defeated Monfils 2-1 in the opening match in a very entertaining match to watch and followed it up with a 2-0 victory over D. Evans earlier today. Isner has been serving at a high percentage and this is the main gun for a big man. Overall John has won 20 out of 32 matches on a hard surface and it’s definitely a ground he enjoys playing on the most. If the serve keeps working we might very well see one or even two tie breaks to find out the winner.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
21 years old, currently 7th ranked Greek has been struggling with consistency for quite a while. He can perform incredibly well at some days and struggle against potentially much weaker opponents the day after. Tsitsipas defeated D. Lajovic 2-1 in the opening round and followed it up with a victory over N. Basilashvili 2-1 as well. In both of his previous matches, Tsitsipas lost the first set and had to fight back in order to win. It seems like his physical condition is not on the highest level as he’s running out of breath at some of the longer points and is struggling with fatigue. It’s hard to tell if Tsitsipas will be able to comeback against a player like Isner if he once against drops the first set.
