1/16 finals of ATP 500 tournament in Halle, Germany. What an interesting game for the first round is waiting for us as two of French elite players will face off against each other. To have more insights on this ATP Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Benoit Paire match please check out the preview below.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Jo has turned 34 not that long ago but after only playing a few matches last season he looks a lot better this year. Seems like he’s finally healed of all the injuries that he was suffering from. Now he is ready to climb the rankings back to where he had used to be. Tsonga has good winning records on every ground throughout his career but the best one is on grass for sure as he has won 70 out of 93 matches and this is definitely impressive. He’s already debuted on grass this season as he played 2 matches at Stuttgart. He fell short against Raonic but given how well Milos plays on grass this is not such a surprise. Everyone expect Tsonga to perform well on grass. We have to see if he shows what is expected from him tomorrow.

Benoit Paire

Paire has always been the player who is very hard to predict. He’s never been the most consistent but this season he turned things around and finally started to look great in bigger tournaments as well and he’s made some deep runs in Marrakech, Lyon and even the Frech Open where he got to R16 and only dropped out to Nishikori in 5 sets battle. He’s played the most of his games on clay and doesn’t have a good record on grass. That’s the main reason he is not considered a favorite for tomorrow’s match. Even though he is in a great form currently. Will be interesting to see how Paire adapts on the grass in the first match of this season on this specific ground and if he will be able to surprise the doubters.
