Qualification for the ATP US Open Grand Slam, USA (hard). One of the biggest favorites of this qualification to reach the main draw will face off against the veteran, who will give his best in order to not let this happen. To have more insights on this ATP Jiri Vesely vs Pedro Sousa match, please check out the preview below.

Jiri Vesely

26 years old, who is currently ranked 140th overall, is trying to get back on track this season in order to reach his previous rankings. Once a 35th ranked player from the Czech Republic had a lot of injuries which led to dropping the rankings so far. Anyway, this season Vesely seems to finally be healthy and has been playing well past months, including reaching 3rd round at Wimbledon after going through the qualification. A left-handed player has a good serve, can also create a good opportunity to strike and has a strong forehand. The main ground Vesely plays the most at is clay, but he also has a positive win rate on a hard surface as well. He’s placed as a favourite to reach the main draw and will be interesting to see if he manages to succeed.

Pedro Sousa

31 years old, currently 125th ranked Portuguese has always been an average player and his career-best ranking is the only 99th. It’s kinda hard to understand what is Sousa trying to prove at this qualification because he’s mostly been playing on clay this season – 41 out of 44 matches were played on clay ground. He tried his luck on hard in 3 matches in the season and lost all of them. Sousa has a slow playstyle and doesn’t have a huge serve or strong striking ability. He’s mainly defensive style player who often just waits for his opportunities and that’s why he finds it hard to win on a hard surface.
