1/32 round of an ATP 1000 tournament at Montreal, Canada (hard). There we have 2 very experienced players who will definitely create a good and entertaining show for the audience. To have more insights on this ATP Guido Pella vs David Goffin match please check out the preview below.
Guido Pella
29 years old Argentinian has almost climbed to his career-best ranking, which is 21. He’s currently ranked 24th and has been playing some great tennis this year, especially on clay. Pella has always been known as a great player on clay, but he’s shown a huge improvement on grass as well. He’s won 4 matches at Wimbledon including victories against M. Copil, A. Seppi, M. Raonic, and K. Anderson while being placed as an underdog in all of these matches. Pella dropped out of Wimbledon at the quarter-finals against Bautista-Agut after a tough battle in 4 sets. It will be interesting to see Pella competing for the highest level on hard, especially knowing how much he’s improved this season on the other grounds.
David Goffin
28 years old, currently 18th ranked David Goffin hasn’t had the best of seasons so far. He’s only won 24 out of 42 matches this season, which is not a good result given how talented he is. Goffin has been a Top 10 player for quite some time and it’s strange to see him struggling so badly and showing such an inconsistency. Anyway, he’s had a good run on grass after reaching the Final at Halle and Quarter-finals at Wimbledon. There’s a hope that Goffin will take this momentum and use it in Montreal in order to get back on track. Goffin also mentioned in the interview that he’s feeling pretty good right now and should be fully prepared for the tournament.
