The first round of an ATP Grand Slam at Wimbledon. This will be one of the most interesting matches of the first day as both players are in Top40. To have more insights on this ATP Frances Tiafoe vs Fabio Fognini match please check out the preview below.

Frances Tiafoe

Francis is one of the younger players at this tournament as he’s turned 21 this year. It feels like Tiafoe has slowed down after previous seasons when he were climbing the rankings with every tournament he played in. This year he has a losing win rate with 13 wins out of 30 matches played. This is not a good sign for a young player but some of these lose might be understandable as Tiafoe mostly plays in ATP 500 or ATP 1000 tournaments and has to face the top tier players. Overall he is a good player but lacks some experience on grass because he’s played only 19 matches on this ground throughout his whole career. It’ll be interesting if Tiafoe will finally show up at the biggest stage this season.

Fabio Fognini

32 years old Italian had a great start of the season especially on clay where he’s finally won an ATP 1000 title in Monte Carlo. That led to Italian reaching the highest rank of his career as he is currently being ranked as 10th in the world. Even though he is one of the greatest players we have on clay today it’s completely opposite on other grounds. Fognini has won only 18 out of 45 matches he played on grass and that’s concerning. He even lost both friendly matches this season in straight sets against Shapovalov and Schwartzman. Obviously, he is a very skilled and talented player but we should not expect a lot from him on grass specifically.
