1/8 finals of an ATP 500 tournament at Washington, US (hard). Two great young players will face off at this early stage of the tournament. To have more insights on this ATP Frances Tiafoe vs Daniil Medvedev match please check out the preview below.

Frances Tiafoe

40th ranked 21 years old American hasn’t had the easiest season so far. He’s been struggling on clay, he’s been struggling on the grass and there is the last chance to save the season while playing on his favorite ground. Tiafoe had lost 8 out of last 10 matches before entering the tournament at Washington here. Frances is still a very young player who entered the ATP while being only 15 years of age. He will definitely have a lot of room to grow and to improve on, but the fact is, on a good day this guy can defeat literally anyone because his aggressive playstyle fits hard grounds very well. Tiafoe thrives on playing aggressive, attacking tennis and if he manages to create some breaking opportunities tomorrow he might very well be able to move further this tournament.

Daniil Medvedev

23 years old Russian, who’s had a pretty good run on grass, is currently sitting in Top 10. Similarly to Tiafoe, the Russian also prefers fast grounds over slower ones and that’s one of the reasons why his win rates on hard and grass grounds are higher than the ones on clay. Medvedev mostly thrives on his serving ability and also being able to play longer rallies if needed, where most of the big guys struggle at. Like many players on tour, Daniil does also have some issues with consistency at the match and being able not to lose his mind over worse moments. If he manages to keep his cool and improve on that area he might very well reach the highest point of his career even this year.
