This is only the first tournament on grass for this young talent and he is already showing what he is capable by reaching the semi-final here at Stuttgart. He didn’t have an easy way there as all 3 matches he played were close for a longer part of them but Felix managed to come up clutch on all of them. He defeated Simon and Gulbis in straight sets and had a tough tiebreak in the 3rd set against Brown today. Auger-Aliassime is surprising everyone more and more with each match he plays. Because he is playing like a very mature player and not like 18 years old that he is. Tomorrow will definitely be the biggest test for him on this ground so far. As Milos Raonic is definitely one of the better grass players we have on ATP.
The other Canadian star who came back from injuries not that long ago. This is the first tournament for Raonic since the one in Miami in March. There were a lot of questions about his form after injuries and how will he be able to perform. However, he is definitely showing up in this tournament as he beat Popyrin, Tsonga, and Fucsovics after hard battles. As mentioned previously, Raonic is one of the better grass players we have today and his record on this ground is impressive as well – 47 wins out of 69 matches he played. The Canadian can definitely play well and if his serve works well he might win this tournament as well. Will be interesting to see him playing against the other young Canadian. Moreover, how will be able to perform against a different style that Felix plays.
