1/8 final of an ATP Grand Slam US Open, USA (hard). One of the most dominant players these past few weeks will face off against the guy who’s denying the odds this whole tournament. To have more insights on this ATP Dominik Koepfer vs Daniil Medvedev match, please check out the preview below.
25 years old, currently 118th ranked German has risen in form recently. Koepfer hasn’t been known for the majority of tennis fans but he is shining here in US Open. He has gone through qualification quite comfortably after beating R. Harrison, N. Mahut and Y. Uchiyama. German hasn’t stopped since then and now has reached the 1/8 final after beating the J. Munar, R. Opelka and N. Basilashvili, while only giving 2 sets away in all 3 main stage matches. Koepfer was a heavy underdog in his last 2 matches but were able to overcome all the odds that were against him. The guy is playing well and we will have to keep an eye for him as he can definitely surprise once again.
23 years old Russian, who’s reached his career-best ranking (5), has been performing out of his mind last 3 tournaments. Not only did he got into the 3 straight finals, but managed to finally win the last one, in Cincinnati. He’s performing well in this US Open so far as well, but we have to notice that he’s dealing with a lot of issues at the moment and his next performances are very questionable. Medvedev mentioned that he had a lot of health issues after so many matches played in last month and his stamina is not at the best level. His exit at this or the next stage would not surprise at all.
These players have never played against each other before.
