1/8 finals of an ATP 1000 tournament at Cincinnati, USA (hard). This should be a very close match between two great players who’ve been playing very well lately. To have more insights on this ATP Diego Schwartzman vs Richard Gasquet match, please check out the preview below.

Diego Schwartzman

26 years old, currently 24th ranked Argentinian is quietly but surely having a very good season so far. Schwartzman has won 11 out of last 13 matches he’s played and the guy is really on the roll these past months. Montreal were not as successful as he runs into the Bautista-Agut, who is also playing incredibly on hard, but Cincinnati is already looking great for Schwartzman. He’s defeated both L. Djere and R. Albot comfortably in straight sets. Diego doesn’t have a good career win rate on hard, but he’s improved a lot this year as he’s now holding a 68% win rate so far this season on hard. Diego relies on playing the baseline and creating shots mostly and it will be very interesting to see him playing against a more experienced opponent with a similar play style.

Richard Gasquet

33 years old, 56th ranked Frenchman came back after tough injuries and now’s looking finally healthy. Gasquet hasn’t played a lot this season overall due to the injuries, but past few matches on hard were really promising. Gasquet won against B. Paire and K. Nishikori before dropping out against Bautista-Agut in Montreal and had no problems here, at Cincinnati by defeating A. Murray and F. Delbonis in straight sets. The main weapon that Gasquet is known for, his backhand, has been working beautifully so far. Gasquet is still a top tier player when healthy and it seems like he’s very motivated to do his best in order to come back to his previous ranking.
