It’s the first round of an ATP 250 tournament at Newport, USA. This should definitely be the closest match of the day as two fellow Americans, who hadn’t had their best season so far, will face off against each other. To have more insights on this ATP Denis Kudla vs Bradley Klahn match please check out the preview below.
26 years old American is currently ranked 100th overall and has almost dropped out of Top100 this season due to bad performances on clay and hard grounds so far. Anyway, Kudla started to perform better as the grass season kicked in. He’s reached the semi-final at Surbiton, Quarter-final at Stuttgart and won some games at Eastbourne and even a match at Wimbledon. Denis does also have a good career win rate on grass as well he’s won 60 out of 99 matches played which translates to 61% and is not a bad result for sure. His play style fits this ground well and given the past few performances it would be no surprise to see Kudla reaching higher stages here at Newport.
27 years old American is ranked higher than his opponent, 84th overall, but hasn’t been performing well this season until the last challenger tournament at Winnetka. Bradley plays a similar style as Kudla does but differently from his tomorrow’s opponent, he doesn’t play on grass a lot and has a negative win rate on this ground overall. Klahn prefers the hard ground, as it’s the one where he’s shown best results, but given some similarities to hard, he should definitely be able to perform on grass better as well. A lot will depend on whether Klahn has finally adapted on the grass and is ready to play here at 100% or will it just be another early exit.
