The first round of an ATP 1000 tournament at Cincinnati, USA (hard). This will be a very interesting match between two young players who are both great at playing on a hard surface. To have more insights on this ATP Daniil Medvedev vs Kyle Edmund match, please check out the preview below.
Daniil Medvedev
23 years old, currently 8th ranked Russian has reached the best ranking of his career so far after the tournament at Montreal. Medvedev has started the hard season great after reaching the semi-final of an ATP 500 at Washington and the final of ATP 1000 at Montreal, where he only lost to a defending champion Rafael Nadal. The match against Nadal were the only one throughout the whole tournament in which Medvedev has lost a single set. The form he’s playing at is incredible at this time, but there is one concern – players tend to slow down after going far in one tournament and having to play in the other one only a few days after. Tomorrow’s match will show Medvedev’s mindset for this tournament and if he’s ready to fully commit for it while the US Open is on the way.
Kyle Edmund
24 years old Englishman, who is currently ranked 30th overall, didn’t have a lot of luck this season, especially competing on clay. It finally seems like Edmund has fully recovered from injuries that he were suffering from for quite a long time. Kyle has debuted on hard already after the grass season has ended by reaching the quarter-finals of an ATP 500 tournament at Washington. He’s also defeated N. Kyrgios at the opening round of ATP 1000 at Montreal and has lost to Medvedev at the second round. Tomorrow will be a great chance to get revenge against the guy that Edmund has lost to at Montreal. Edmund is a very talented young player overall and there would be no surprise to see him winning tomorrow if he’s really 100% healthy.
