23 years old, currently 5th ranked Russian has survived one more match and has reached the semi-final of a Grand Slam for the first time. Medvedev is slowly becoming one of the best Russian players to ever play the game. He hasn’t even reached his peak years yet. Even though he were dealing with a lot of issues for most of this tournament including health problems that were caused due to a very tough schedule these past few weeks. It’s questionable if he would’ve been able to defeat Wawrinka if the Swiss weren’t on a very bad day. However, in order to win tomorrow, Medvedev has to be at his best form.
Grigor Dimitrov
28 years old, currently 78th ranked Bulgarian hasn’t played well for the whole year and has suddenly increased the level of intensity he plays with and managed to overcome the deficits to get to this stage. Dimitrov has defeated R. Federer in the quarter-final after being down 2 sets to 1. Dimitrov at this tournament is playing like everyone expected him to play for the whole year. Knowing that he’s definitely capable of showing similar performances that the one he did yesterday. Grigor is one of the most athletic guys on tour and he shouldn’t have as many problems with stamina and health as Medvedev does. So this will be a huge advantage on Dimitrov’s side.
