Quarter-final of an ATP 1000 tournament at Cincinnati, USA (hard). This tournament had a lot of unexpected results and it led to two rising Russian stars facing off against each other at Quarter-finals.  To have more insights on this ATP Daniil Medvedev vs Andrey Rublev match, please check out the preview below.

Daniil Medvedev

23 years old, currently 8th ranked Russian is probably the hottest player on tour right now. He’s played in 2 straight finals before coming to Cincinnati and is playing incredibly well here, as well. The interesting thing about Medvedev, which shows his dominance, is that the Russian hasn’t lost a single set in all 3 hard surface tournament he’s played at this summer until the Final match. Of course, this is mainly due to his young age and the final match of the tournament might get into his nerves, which might be the main reason he struggles to win some titles, even though the opportunities were there for the young man. This tournament is not any different and we’ll have to see if Medvedev manages to reach one more final.

Andrey Rublev

21 years old, currently ranked 70th overall Russian is the second lowest-ranked player from the ones that are left in the tournament. Anyway, this fact doesn’t bother the Russian at all as he’s managed to produce the moment of his career at defeating the Maestro, Roger Federer, in straight sets. Rublev had to play the qualification matches for the tournament and has already played 5 of them overall at Cincinnati, so he’s adapted on the surface very well and this might be one of the reasons the guy is shining so brightly. Even though Rublev had a great victory yesterday, the road to the title won’t get any easier and his countryman won’t make it easy for him tomorrow. Medvedev plays absolutely different tennis compared to Federer and it will be very interesting to see how Rublev will be able to respond.
