1/8 final of an ATP 500 tournament at Hamburg, Germany (clay). A very interesting match is waiting for us as two of the youngest players at this tournament will face off against each other. To have more insights on this ATP Casper Ruud vs Andrey Rublev match please check out the preview below.
Casper Ruud
Only 20 years old Norwegian is currently ranked 69th and he’s close to his best career rank, which is 59th. Casper Ruud might not be the name everyone has heard, but he’s definitely rising up as one of the most promising young players. Casper is a 6’1 tall but has a good and strong for his size. He’s also very good at finding moments to strike and playing at the baseline. Clay is for sure his best ground even though he’s had some good results last season on hard as well. Ruud got into the final at Houston, 1/8 final at Rome and Quarter-final at Rio De Janeiro this season. It might not be a lot, but given the strong opposition he’s faced against, Ruud’s season has been quite good so far.
Andrey Rublev
Another young man, 21 years old Russian, is currently ranked 78th overall. Differently, from Ruud, he hasn’t proved himself on one ground or another. Rublev plays on a similar level on clay, hard or even indoors. Of course it’s a good sign to be able to play well on all of the grounds, but still, every one of them has its own specifics and playing against a real clay’er might not be that simple. The Russian is also known for his hot temperament, even at his win against Garin, he’s been throwing the racket after losing points, shouting and screaming on everyone for no reason and this fact is really concerning. If Rublev could finally improve his mental state going into the match, he might really fulfill his potential.
