Borna Coric

22 years old Croatian has started to become a real threat on the grass just like he is on hard. Coric had won only 3 matches out of 14 he played during his first 4 years of playing on grass. However,  he improved a lot since last season. He’s finished 2018 with 5 wins and only 1 loss while at this season he already has 4 wins and only a single loss so far. Coric got into the semi-final in Hertogenbosch were lost to an Adrian Mannarino who became a champion later on. Coric had no problems defeating Munar at the opening round in Halle but had some struggles against Sousa. Anyway, he managed to come out on top and here we see him in quarters fighting for the semi-final spot on grass again.

Pierre-Hugues Herbert

28 years old Frenchman has never been considered something more than an average player but he’s had some impressive games this season and has seemingly improved his game. He’s defeated Medvedev in the first round of French Open while being a huge underdog. At Halle, he’s already defeated crowd favorite Gael Monfils and did that in straight sets which are kind of impressive knowing how well Monfils plays on grass. Herbert almost dropped out against Stakhovsky but managed to capitalize on Ukrainian’s mistakes to come out on top. Tomorrow will come with the biggest test for him so far. We’ve got to see how well Herbert is going to show up under pressure.
