The Final of an ATP 500 tournament at Hamburg, Germany (clay). Two of the guys, who weren’t expected to go that far, will face off at the final of the tournament. To have more insights on this ATP Andrey Rublev vs Nikoloz Basilashvili match, please check out the preview below.

Andrey Rublev

21 years old Russian will rise up in rankings quite a lot after this tournament. Victory here he might even come back to Top 40, which was his best result a few years ago. Currently, 78th ranked Russian, as expected, took down the Spaniard Carreno-Busta in 3 sets. Once again, he showed up the improvement on a mental side of the game as the Russian recovered after losing the 1st set and worked his way out, what led to a comfortable victory after that. It’s really satisfying to watch Rublev at this tournament as he’s finally showing the true colors of his capabilities. It’s a great experience for such a young guy. We might really well see him at these stages of tournaments more often if he manages to play at the similar level that he’s playing at here.

Nikoloz Basilashvili

16th ranked Georgian, who is a lot more experienced than tomorrow’s opponent, has taken down one of the favorites of the tournament, A. Zverev. It was a very exciting match to watch as both players had enough opportunities to win. However, Basilashvili showed up when it mattered the most. He got a break at 5-4 after saving 2 match points, and even at the tie break in 3rd set, after being down 2-5, he managed to come back and win 5 streak points to close out the semi-final. That was a really impressive performance on Basilashvili’s side. He’s won this tournament last year and it might really well be the 2 in a row for him, which would be a great achievement knowing that not a lot of people expected him to reach this stage.
