1/16 final of an ATP Grand Slam US Open, USA (hard). This will be a very interesting match between two young talents who are playing great tennis in this tournament so far. To have more insights on this ATP Andrey Rublev vs Nick Kyrgios match, please check out the preview below.
Andrey Rublev
21 years old, currently 43rd ranked Russian has been having an incredible run on hard these past few weeks. He’s reached the quarter-finals in both Cincinnati (lost against D. Medvedev) and Winston-Halem (lost against D. Shapovalov) and is on a good run here, at US Open as well. Rublev denied the odds at for the opening match against T. Tsitsipas and defeated the Greek in 4 sets. It definitely feels like Rublev has no problems playing against tall all-around players with great serve such as Tsitsipas. This might be a very important factor heading into tomorrow’s match against similar style player, N. Kyrgios. Rublev has dropped out of US Open in the first round last year, what means he’s already added a lot of points to his wallet and has a chance to add up some more with a victory tomorrow.
Nick Kyrgios
24 years old, currently 30th ranked Australian is also playing well these days. He’s managed to win the title at Washington after defeating D. Medvedev in the final. Even though he’s dropped out early in both Cincinnati and Montreal, Kyrgios is playing well so far in this US Open. It’s always hard to predict how will he decide to play the match, as he’s a very emotional player who still has a lot of issues in that area. Anyway, Kyrgios is one of the top talents in today’s tennis and he can’t be underestimated. Kyrgios has dropped out of US Open in R32 last year, which means he’s already passed his previous result and has a chance to improve it even more.
H2H
Kyrgios is leading the H2H by 1 victory to 0.
