The second round of an ATP 250 tournament at Umag, Croatia (clay). We will see one of the youngest players at this tournament facing off against one of the veterans. To have more insights on this ATP 250 Aljaz Bedene vs Jannik Sinner match please check out the preview below.
Aljaz Bedene
29 years old Slovenian wasn’t shining brightly this season so far but 29th ranked Bedene has definitely had some great moments. After a sluggish start of the season, he’s finally reached semi-final at Rio De Janeiro. However, he had to withdraw due to injury. Coming back after it wasn’t easy as only at Queen’s Club Bedene finally started to look like somewhat of a player he used to be. Clay is for sure the ground he loves playing on the most. This tournament at Umag is not different. Bedene has already defeated Cecchinato at the first round and did it in straight sets which is definitely convincing as Italian is one of the better players on clay. Bedene will be a favourite for tomorrow match for sure but has to continue playing the same way he did against Cecchinato in order to reach higher stages.
Jannik Sinner
17 years old Italian is one of the youngest players at this tournament. He went pro at the age of 14 but only started playing at challengers at 16. He’s mainly playing on clay as it’s the ground he prefers. The Sinner is slowly but surely climbing the ladder as he’s currently only 209th. However, he might very well become a top100 player this year because he’s already participating at bigger tournaments such as Budapest, Lyon, Rome and doing well there. He’s 6’2 and can serve, play the all-around game pretty well. He’s also debuted here at Umag by defeating P.Sousa after a comeback deficit in 3 sets. Sinner is improving with each match and it will definitely be interesting to see matching up against potentially one of the best players of this tournament tomorrow.
