1/8 finals of an ATP US Open Grand Slam, USA (hard). This will be probably the closest match of the day, as both players are playing on a very similar level these days and are worth each other. To have more insights on this ATP Alexander Zverev vs Diego Schwartzman match, please check out the preview below.
Alexander Zverev
22 years old, currently 6th ranked German is not playing his best tennis so far these past few weeks. Anyway, he’s getting the work done and even though his matches were not as one-sided as some people may have expected, he still defeated R. Albot, F. Tiafoe and A. Bedene. Zverev is still a very young player but there are huge expectations for him as he’s got in the Top 10 very early in his career. It’s hard to keep the consistency level high at such an early age but Zverev definitely has the talent to stay at the top for quite a long time.
Zverev got into the R32 in last year and only has 90 points to defend. He’s already passed this result and might even add up a lot more points.
Diego Schwartzman
27 years old, who is currently ranked 21st overall, is on a very good run since the start of the US Open. Schwartzman hasn’t lost a single set yet and has defeated R. Haase, E. Gerasimov and T. Sandgren in straight sets. Diego is playing calm and smart tennis without doing a lot of mistakes. He might not be the best server on tour, but he’s good at returning the ball and attacking after the 1st serve. He will definitely have a stamina advantage compared to Zverev and Diego should also be fresher for tomorrow’s match.
Schwartzman has also dropped out of this tournament in R32 last year and has already passed his previous result.
