1/16 round of an ATP US Open Grand Slam, USA (hard). This will definitely be one of the most interesting matches of the day as two great players will face off against each other. To have more insights on this ATP Alex De Minaur vs Kei Nishikori match, please check out the preview below.
Alex De Minaur
20 years old, currently 38th ranked Australian is having a great season and will rise up in rankings after this tournament is over once again. Young Australian had no problems in the first two rounds. He’s defeated P. Herbert 3-1 in the first round and followed it up with a victory against Ch. Garin in straight sets today. De Minaur is holding his serve very well and is serving at a high percentage. However, tomorrow’s opponent will be one of the most defensive players in today’s tennis and keeping his serve will be an even harder, but definitely very important detail of the game.
De Minaur has dropped out of this tournament in R32 last year and has already surpassed his previous result.
Kei Nishikori
29 years old, currently 7th ranked Japanese haven’t looked that dominant these weeks as we’ve used to see him previously. Nishikori had two first-round exits before entering the US Open in Cincinnati and Montreal, losing to R. Gasquet and Y. Nishioka. Both defeats were surprising one’s and it really seemed like something was wrong with Kei’s physical condition. Anyway, he’s looked good in first two rounds of his Grand Slam. He already defeated M. Trungelliti and B. Klahn in first two rounds.
Kei Nishikori is defending a lot of points this year (720), as he’s reached the semi-final the year before. This will be a high task for him and in order to at least not to lose that many points, Kei will have to improve his game with every match played, starting with tomorrow.
