This is the biggest show of basketball in the whole world. The best players from all over the globe are going to one place and try to show who is the best. We are talking about the NBA all-star weekend. Please review our thoughts, here below.

Friday. NBA Rising Stars game.

Team World

Team World roster: OG Anunoby (Toronto Raptors), Deandre Ayton (Phoenix Suns), Bogdan Bogdanovic (Sacramento Kings), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks),Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Los Angeles Clippers), Rodion Kurucs (Brooklyn Nets), Lauri Markkanen (Chicago Bulls), Josh Okogie (Minnesota Timberwolves), Cedi Osman (Cleveland Cavaliers), Ben Simmons (Philadelphia 76ers). This is a very interesting team, that have a pair of very interesting players. Luka Doncic is the main candidate for the Rookie of the year award. He shows very good results this season, as a rookie. Also, Ben Simmons is going to play in this year’s main all-star game. Reigning Rookie of the year is one of the leaders on this season’s 76ers team. DeAndre Ayton, the No. 1 overall pick of 2019 NBA draft is a leading rebounder among this year’s rookies.

Team USA

Team USA roster:Jarrett Allen (Brooklyn Nets), Marvin Bagley III (Sacramento Kings), Lonzo Ball (Los Angeles Lakers), John Collins (Atlanta Hawks), De’Aaron Fox (Sacramento Kings), Jaren Jackson Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies), Kyle Kuzma (Los Angeles Lakers), Donovan Mitchell (Utah Jazz), Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks). This team is full of players, who are leaders of their NBA teams. Jason Tatum is a 2nd leading scorer (16.5ppg), on the Celtics (37-21). De’Aaron Fox is the main player of the Sacramento Kings and is a candidate for the Most Improved Player of the Year award. Donovan Mitchell is leading his team to the playoffs. Jazz player is reigning
Dunk competition champion, so we can expect some high flying dunks from this guy. Another very interesting player is Trae Young. He is a lethal sharpshooter, so we could expect some deep threes from this player.

Conclusion

Team USA looks way stronger on the paper. It looks like they have more assets than the Team World. Of course, this will be a fun game, with a lot of great episodes. Team USA has a way better backcourt. De’Aaron Fox and Donovan Mitchell should make a high tempo basketball, which is fun to watch. But lets don’t forget Ben Simmons and Luka Doncic of Team World. We think they should try to win this game to show the world that not only Americans can play basketball very well.

Smashing Tip

Every tip on all-star games is a bold prediction to be fair. But this time I’ll go with 290.5 points over. This game has more shooters this year and we expect a very high tempo basketball.

Skills challenge

This year’s list includes Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley, Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Dončić, Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić, Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, Orlando Magic big man Nikola Vučević and Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young. It is a very interesting fact, but since big man was allowed to participate in the skills challenge, they have won 2 times out of three (Karl-Anthony Towns and Kristaps Porzingis). Last year’s winner is Spencer Dinwiddie. Our bold prediction for this time would Nikola Jokic. He is a skilled big man, who can make three-point shots.

3-point contest

Participants: Devin Booker (Suns), Seth Curry (Trail Blazers), Stephen Curry (Warriors), Danny Green (Raptors), Joe Harris (Nets), Buddy Hield (Kings), Damian Lillard (Trail Blazers), Khris Middleton (Bucks), Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks), Kemba Walker (Hornets). Devin Booker is a defending champion and looks to take the trophy this year as well. We have an interesting occurrence, that 2 brothers are participating in this tournament (Stephen and Seth Curry). Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, and Dirk Nowitzki are former champions of this competition. Our prediction on this contest is Stephen Curry. We think he should take over this year’s 3-point contest and win.

Dunks contest

Participants: Dennis Smith Jr. (New York Knicks), Hamidou Diallo (Oklahoma City Thunder), John Collins (Atlanta Hawks), Miles Bridges (Charlotte Hornets). Dennis Smith Jr. finished third in the 2018 dunk contest. John Collins, Hamidou Diallo, and Miles Bridges are first-time participants. Our prediction is Dennis Smith Jr. He has been dunking like crazy this season and already has some experience in this contest. If everything goes right DSJ should win.

Sunday. The all-star game.

Team LeBron

Team LeBron roster: Starters: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden.
Reserves: Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, LaMarcus Aldridge, Karl-Anthony Towns, Bradley Beal, Dwyane Wade.
This team is not a very big one. But it has a lot of shooters, so they can really make it rain from deep. And probably the main fact is in this team’s name – team LeBron. They have LBJ, who has winner mentality and won’t let this game slip away at all costs.

Team Giannis

Team Gianni’s roster: Starters: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, Paul George, Kemba Walker.
Reserves: Khris Middleton, Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, D’Angelo Russell, Nikola Vucevic, Kyle Lowry, Dirk Nowitzki.
This team’s strength is frontcourt. We should see them pounding the paint and making a lot of great dunks. The only two lethal shooters in this team are Paul George and Stephen Curry. They always area is available to make it rain.

Conclusion

Last year, when team LeBron and team Steph played, Lebron’s team came out on top at the last seconds of the game. It was the first time when we saw this format and it went very well. It is more interesting to wait for the all-star game and the game itself is way more interesting. Teams actually want to win and are trying their best on both – defensive and offensive ends. We should see a tough interesting battle. So just sit back, relax and enjoy when the best basketball players in the world are playing this game on one court!
