After many false starts, it looks like the long-running feud between former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and former interim champ Colby Covington will finally get settled. Both fighters have taunted each other for a very long time. This should be an amazing fight. To have more insights on this Tyron Woodley vs Colby Covington fight, please read our preview below.
Tyron Woodley
Woodley (19-5-1, 9-5 UFC) has lost two decisions in a row, to Kamaru Usman (which cost him his title) and most recently Gilbert Burns. So this will be probably one of the last opportunities for Tyron that he still has what it takes to take back his belt. However, this will be another huge test for ex-champion. Because Colby Covington has amazing wrestling skills and also never stops. It will be very difficult for Tyron not to get tired, especially if they will grapple. As it was seen in his fight against Burns, Woodley got tired after spending too much time on the back trying to defend himself. Tyron must have improved his durability during his last camp, so this will be a tough and long fight for both fighters, knowing the cost (title shot), both will give everything.
Colby Covington
Covington hasn‘t fought since his loss against Kamaru Usman. Obviously winning this fight would mean a title shot against Usman, if he defeats Burns. But first Colby must back up his words because he has been talking a lot of things about the former champion, both have shown hatred to each other for a long time. Colby will have to use his durability and constantly move forward by pressing Woodley and not letting him explode with his insane striking power. Another his advantage will be grappling, Colby is a younger and more skilled wrestler, therefore, he should start with grappling, to make Tyron get tired. If he would get tired, it would be much easier to move for striking in the last round.
