Donald Cerrone
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone holds numerous UFC records including most finishes and most post-fight bonuses and is currently tied for most fights in the octagon (with Jim Miller, who will pull into the lead this weekend at UFC 252). However, the past twelve months or so have not been kind to the popular lightweight (and sometimes welterweight). Since June of 2019, he has lost four straight bouts, to Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Conor McGregor and Anthony Pettis. It’s worth noting that all four have won gold in the UFC’s 155lb division. This will be the third fight this year for Cowboy, he lost both before (Pettis and McGregor). However, in this fight he is facing less talented and experienced wonder. Price definitely doesn‘t have such skills as Ferguson or Pettis, not to mention MacGregor, so this is an excellent opportunity for Cowboy to once again remember what is it like to be a winner.
Niko Price
Price, meanwhile, will enter what is expected to be a shootout with Cowboy off a loss to Vicente Luque. Price has been trading wins and losses of late, going 3-3 across his last six bouts. The fight with Luque at UFC 249 was his second loss to the Brazilian. However, he is facing an experienced fighter this time, who has very good grappling skills and can strike as well. Price is known to never leave the decision for the judges, so it promises to be a brutal fight. But he must be careful because one mistake might cost him all fight. Cerrone has done it many times, especially with a young, less experienced fighters.
