2012-08-18 league_logo Coppa Italia Torino : Lecce 4 : 2
2009-01-25 league_logo Serie A Lecce : Torino 3 : 3
2008-08-31 league_logo Serie A Torino : Lecce 3 : 0

Torino vs Lecce will be the Serie A Round 3 closing match on Monday, which will be held at Stadio Olimpico di Torino, in Turin. Two absolutely different teams started this season also differently. While Torino stands at the top of the table with maximum collected points, newcomer of Serie A lost both matches without scoring any goal. This match is a great opportunity for Torino to strengthen their place in the league. Please read our thoughts about this interesting Torino vs Lecce Serie A match, here below.

Last time these teams met in the 2012 year at 1/32 Finals of Coppa Italia. At that moment Torino was a newcomer of Serie A. However, Lecce had a much more interesting story, as they were provisionally relegated to Lega Pro Prima Divisione – Girone A, by the Disciplinary Commission, due to big scandals. 7 years ago Torino won with 4:2 result, against very Lecce.

Torino

This season started for Torino at the end of July, as they needed to pass qualification to attend in Europa League. They showed a really great performance and unfortunately met Wolverhampton in the final stage. Wolves won both games with 5:3 aggregate result and qualified to second strongest Europe competition, leaving Torino behind. This is very pathetic, and as we already said, both teams were worthy of participation in the Europa League main tournament. This means that the team must do everything to be among those who without qualifications will get into this tournament next year. And while the results speak for themselves.

At the opening Serie A round, Maroons won against Sassuolo. They led by two goals and finishing the match with 2:1 result taking very important 3 points. This match was very tough, as Sassuolo played very strongly and even had more chances to score and control the possession. The second match also was very hard, as they played against Atalanta, one of the most prospective teams in Italy. Moreover, the game was held at Stadio Ennio Tardini, in Parma. Torino led this match after Bonifazi goal at 24th minute, however, things changed fastly as already in 54th minute, Atalanta took control over the match after a double of D. Zapata. Their leadership did not last long, and Bulls scored 2 goals, wresting an incredible victory playing away. Both games showed how much Turin plays confidently, strongly and persistently. All players give their all 100%, which gives a positive result.

Unfortunately, Simone Edera, Iago Falque, Lyanco, Cristian Ansaldi and Simone Zaza will miss this game due to injuries.

Lecce

Lecce had a very interesting story falling down to the weakest Italy professional team due to scandals in the 2012 year. During the 7 recent years, Lecce came back to Seria A showing one of the strongest characters in Italy. This way, diligence and perseverance were rewarded by returning to Serie A. Fabio Liverani made this miracle real, as under coaching this specialist, Lecce promoted to highest Italy’s league, from Serie C. A lot of work was done by the club as well, as the team is developing and achieving results.

The Salentians lost their first games of Seria after a very big break. In the opening round, they met Internazionale, which played without concessions, and won with a 4:0 result, without leaving any chances to resist. In the second game, they played at home against Verona. This opponent were much more comfortable for newcomers. However, Verona snatched a win with a late Pessina goal in 81st minute of the game. So at the moment, Lupi needs to take a big breath and start to plays as their played recent seasons. Of course, there are absolutely another level. But if they want to stay in Serie A, Lecce must find a way to prove themselves.

Unfortunately, Biago Meccariello and Simone Lo Faso will miss this game due to injuries. Moreover, Radoslav Tsonev suspended until the 31st of December.
