On the 10th of June will play Spain vs Sweden at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, in Madrid, in UEFA Euro 2020 Qualification. Spain vs Sweden is the match with big interest because of great National squads and great perspectives in Qualification Group F. Review our thoughts on this Spain vs Sweden match here below.

Spain

FIFA Rating – 9

Spain failed to succeed in the UEFA Nations League and World Cup 2018. They play weak football in the most important games. Previously, in 2018 World Cup in Russia, hosts knocked Spain form the tournament in 1/8 Finals. That was very shocking for all, as they looked very confidently during the qualification and group stage then. The biggest problem was changing the Head Coach just before the competition started. Later, in Nations League, they took second place after losing against Croatia and England. One of the strongest national teams now stands only at 9th place in FIFA Rankings. During the last 3 years, hosts lost only 3 games, against Russia after penalties, and Croatia with England by the same 3:2 result.

In Euro 2020 qualification, Spain plays very confidently and strongly. They met Malta and Norway and won both matches. Spain won last game against the Faroe Islands whitout any problems, however, conceded 1 goal and finished with 4:1 result in Torshavn. Sweden is the second favorite to take first place in Group F. However, Spain is much stronger, and there should be no doubts who become the leader of the group.

Sweden

FIFA Rating – 14

Sweden showed one more time that their level of football is very high and they can fight even against the strongest teams. In the World Cup, they took first place in the group with South Korea, Mexico, and Germany. Then in Playoffs, they reached the Quarter-final by winning against Switzerland and losing to England. In general, they left only positive emotions and impressions of their game. Sweden doesn’t have big stars like was Ibrahimovic, however, they strong at team play. Janne Andersson becomes Head Coach of Sweden in 2016 and already convinced everyone with quality football and achievements.

Sweden is very strong favorites for taking second place of Group F. They won against Romania and have drawn the game against their neighbors Norway with 3:3 result. The last game, on 7th of June they won confidently 3:0 against Malta in Stockholm. In general, Sweden’s national squad qualified to main Euro Championship already 5 times in a row. Only in the 2004 year, they reached Quarter-finals. Janne Andersson called very interesting squad from all over the World. Only 3 players are called from Swedish clubs. Most of them are from top European Competitions like the Premier League, Bundesliga, and French Ligue 1. There are only a few young players in the squad and seems that Sweden’s squad is one of the most experienced and old. That should give much more confidence and physical strength. Especially, that is very needed playing against teams like Spain.

Spain vs Sweden H2H

These teams met last time 11 years ago in Euro 2008. Then Spain won all matches leaving Sweden out of the promotion zone. Spain won against Sweden in the 2008 year by 2:1 result. Most interesting, that both teams played in one qualification group before and Sweden won against Spain at Råsunda, in Solna with 2:0 result.
