Schalke vs Bayern Munich will play at the second Bundesliga Round at Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen. Schalke vs Bayern Munich previously were the biggest rivals as they always played very intense and tough games, fighting for highest positions in the highest German league. Times changed, and Bayern is much stronger now.

Bayern Munich is unbeaten already since the 2011 year playing against Schalke in all competitions. Moreover, the Miners lost 5 matches in a row during the last seasons. Most interesting, that Schalke are not able even to score against Bayern at Veltins Arena already 3 seasons in a row. We hope in this game to see the strengths of both teams, as Schalke also great abilities. This year the competition in the Bundesliga will be even stronger, so the teams must fight for every point. Read our thoughts about this match here below.

Schalke

Last year Schalke took 11th place, what is a really weak result for such a talented and historically big club. After a bad last season, Schalke decided to change the head coach again. After Jens Keller in 2013/14, Schalke changed their manager in every season until now. On the 9th of May, David Wagner was appointed as a new head coach of the Royal Blues. This summer transfer window, Schalke sold only Breel Embolo, talented Swiss player to Borussia Monchengladbach. Schalke brought Ozan Kabak, the 19 years old Turkish player from Stuttgart. Moreover, Benito Raman arrived to club from Dusseldorf to strengthen the left side of the squad.

Most interesting, that Embolo played against Schalke at the opening round of Bundesliga. Match finished with a 0:0 draw, however, Borussia Monchengladbach were more dangerous and strong. Schalke were confident and strong in defence, for this Borussia did not manage to score a goal. Goalkeeper Nubel showed himself very well. After the offseason, both teams played without several major players, what affected the strength of the attack and the final result. In general, they started the season well with 1 point in a round match being underdog and confident 5:0 win in DFB Pokal against Drochtersen/Assel.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga 7 times in a row already. Even after James Rodrigues, Frank Ribery, Rafinha and Arjen Robben left the club, they found a way to replace them with great and talented players. Only one serious departure was Mats Hummels, as he joined Borussia Dortmund once again. During this summer transfer window, they brought to squad strong defensive addition Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid and Benjamin Pavard from Stuttgart. To be more confident in winger positions, Bayern loaned experienced Ivan Perisic from Inter and Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona. Now Bavarians have almost all position built as strong as it is possible.

However, the first game against Hertha Berlin at Allianz Arena they failed to win, as the match finished 2:2. The Reds scored first, however, after 12 minutes Hertha scored 2 goals in 2 minutes and took leaders position. In general, Hertha had only 3 shots on goal. At 60th minute, Lewandowski scored second match goal from the penalty spot. During the second half, Bayern had 77% ball possession and lots of dangerous moments, however, draw for Hertha away was a great result, especially against a team like Bayern. So they stood strong in defence and saved 1 important point. Star of the South unlikely will repeat the failure of the beginning of last year’s season, so against Schalke they must take 3 points.
