Liverpool vs Arsenal – 24/08/2019 Preview

Liverpool vs Arsenal is one of the most interesting matches during the 3rd Round of Premier League, which will be held at Anfield, in Liverpool. During the last 3 years, these teams played only in Premier League regular seasons. Most interesting, that Liverpool won 4 out of 6 games and have drawn 2 matches at Emirates Stadium, in London. Only one match finished without a goal from one of the teams, as both play very open football. Previously, on the eve of the new year, Liverpool won against Arsenal with 5:1 result, although the Londoners scored first. Liverpool

Liverpool played already 4 games this season. In Community Shield, they lost to Manchester City after penalties. However, recouped after in UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea also after penalties. After a difficult start of the season, while other teams are fresh and rested, it’s hard to play on the highest level only with team leaders. The game against Southampton is a great example. Liverpool, of course, were much stronger, controlled the ball and had more goal attempts. However, Southampton were one step behind from a draw, as they had a lot of dangerous moments.

This year, the team remained the same, what is very good since they perfectly know each other and the team morale is very high thanks to the good results and the leadership of the coach. The team from Liverpool loves to play attacking football, they control the ball against any opponent and impose their game. In defence, they have almost no weaknesses. Unfortunately, Alisson and Nathaniel Clyne will miss the next match due to injuries. Alisson can be called the strongest goalkeeper in Premier League, so we hope to see him back soon.

Arsenal

Arsenal started this season whitout any losings. They won against Newcastle at the first round at St. James Park with 0:1 result. That was a really tough game, however, during the first half, they totally controlled the game and had 3 goal attempts. Newcastle had more chances to succeed, however, in the second round they conceded the goal and match finished without a very bright game of Gunners., but with 3 points. In 2 round, game against Burnley were at Emirates Stadium, with an already more open game and interesting scenario. Match finished with 2:1 result, after goals from A. Lacazette, A. Barnes and P. Aubameyang (second this season in PL). During the match, Arsenal controlled the game and had lots of chances, but Burnley’s English style defence was hard to overcome.

During this start of the season, Arsenal plays without half of their main squad, as H. Bellerin, M. Elneny, R. Holding, M. Ozil, K. Tierney and G. Xhaka are still injured and can’t help the team to play stronger and more confidently. The Gunners now using young and talented players to change them, and as we can see, they achieve the desired results. Several main players still will be absent in the game against Liverpool.
