Arsenal vs Newcastle - 01/04/2019 Preview

Arsenal will face Newcastle at Emirates Stadium, in London, at 32nd Round of English Premier League. Arsenal against Newcastle is always the match with big interest after their previous matches in English Premier League. This round is very important fighting for positions in the league. Review our thoughts on this match here below.

Arsenal

Arsenal is a totally different team this season if we comparing their game at Emirates and as a guest. They still have big chances to participate next season in Champions League, although, they did not finish their path in UEFA Europa League. After great comeback against Stade Rennes, they should be very motivated playing with Napoli. In all competitions, Arsenal is almost unbeaten this season. They play very strong and confident football at Emirates and are showing everyone that they deserve to be among the best teams.

In 16 home matches, they won 13, lost only once against Manchester City in the very first round of Premier League. After, they lost to Tottenham in an important match of quarter-final of EFL Cup. And finally, lost to Manchester United in 1/16 Round of FA Cup. So now they can fully concentrate on the two most important tournaments of the season. They still have chances to overtake Tottenham in PL and take 3rd place. However, in the highest English league, Manchester United and Chelsea are very near, that is because Gunners need to take 3 points in every match. Hosts conceded only in one match out of last 5 while playing at Emirates stadium.

Unfortunately, Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, and Danny Welbeck will miss the match for sure due to injuries. Moreover, newbie of Arsenal Lucas Torreira got banned for 3 matches and will not help in the match against Newcastle. The team shows its abilities in finishing scoring chances, shooting from direct free kicks and attacking down the wings. But the Arsenal has weaknesses in aerial duels, avoiding individual errors and stopping opponents from creating chances.

Newcastle

Newcastle is playing in Premier League second season after promotion from Championship. Last year was almost similar to this season, however, they still have time to show their potential. They collected 35 points and lost already 14 in 31 matches. In total, the season could be much better, but the last form shows that they can be very strong and dangerous for every opponent. In the last 10 matches, they collected half of their total points. Newcastle won last 5 matches at home, and the most impressive win was against Manchester City at the end of January.

In road games, they are struggling and won only 2 games in the last 15. Moreover, they failed to win in last 7 their away games and conceded at least 2 goals in the last 3 matches in PL. Of course, they are still under pressure, because the team needs to fight in every match so as not to fall into Championship again. Salomon Rondon is playing a great season with 9 goals scored and 5 assists. We can call him the most dangerous player in the squad.

Almost all team players are fit and ready to play a very important match against Gunners. Only youngster Sean Longstaff will miss the match due to injury. This season Newcastle United is strong at creating scoring chances and stealing the ball from the opponents. However, they are facing troubles at defending set pieces and fouling in dangerous areas.
