Zenit
Zenit have shown some signs of life after being able to get on a 2-win streak by defeating Khimki Moscow in away match (83-81) and following it up with a victory over Baskonia at home (72-66). It would have been a perfect way for this team to climb out of the bottom of the table with a victory over Valencia last week, but the Spaniards were too much to handle for this Russian team. It will be very interesting to see which Zenit we will see on Thursday – the one who’s struggling to perform or the one who beat Baskonia and Khimki. This team is very inconsistent and hard to predict, as coach Plaza uses the bench players a lot and there’s a new leader in almost every match.
Olympiacos
One of the most known teams of this competition haven’t started the season as many expected. Despite that, Olympiacos have changed the head coach Kemzura for G. Barztokas last week and we could already see some changes the coach made. Even though Alba ruined the debut for Bartzokas, Olympiacos managed to come back strong in the 2nd match of the week and beat Bayern 89-72. Even with Bayern shooting over 57% from 3 point line, Olympiacos have managed to keep them under 75 points and it definitely shows incredible defence capabilities by this squad. It might take some more time for Bartzokas to adapt with this team and make some more changes that will lead to better results, but we’re definitely on the way to see a lot more dangerous Olympiacos.
