Crvena Zvezda

Crvena Zvezda has started the season strong and emerged really fast, even though not many people expected such good results for this team. Anyway, after a strong start, Crvena Zvezda is currently facing 4 loss streak, including 3 at home. They’ve lost against Anadolu Efes (78-85), Alba Berlin (85-94) and Zalgiris Kaunas (70-76). Despite those losses, all of these matches were really close ones and could’ve turned, either way, so Zvezda can’t be underestimated, especially while playing at home. A lot will depend on whether newcomers Stimac and Punter will manage to impact the game as they’re expected to. Panathinaikos is not a great away team, so Zvezda will have good chances to get over current losing streak.

Panathinaikos

Definitely a team with one of the strongest rosters of this competition. A lot of well-known names and the core is playing together for a few years already. Rick Pitino is doing a wonderful job after joining the team in the middle of the season, but it doesn’t seem like he had any problems of doing so. Panathinaikos is currently in the 6th place with 13 victories and 9 losses, so every other victory increases their chances for the playoff spot a lot. Panathinaikos is a lot stronger compared to Crvena Zvezda on paper, but they have not been playing great on the road and the last match against Valencia indicated it pretty well. Even though Panathinaikos lost only by 7 points, they were down by 15+ in the 4th quarter and were not even close. In order to win in Serbia, Panathinaikos will have to come up with a lot better game plan than they did last week.
