This will be an interesting match between one of the rising stars of the tour and the veteran who is denying all the odds to reach this stage. To have more insights on this ATP Daniil Medvedev vs Peter Gojowczyk match please check out the preview below.

Daniil Medvedev

23 years old 10th ranked Russian have comfortably reached this stage after defeating B. Fratangelo, F. Tiafoe and M. Cilic in straight sets. Even though his matches haven’t looked as smooth as, for example, the ones Tsitsipas had, but the outcome is still the same. It was a pleasant surprise to see how well Medvedev has fought in the tie break at the 2nd set against one of the veterans, Marin Cilic. A young Russian have stayed calm, composed and left no chance for Cilic to take a mini-break. It really shows the growth of a player as he’s a lot calmer these days and stronger mentally. If Daniil manages to show something similar to his previous match, we might very well see him entering the final of this tournament.

Peter Gojowczyk

30 years old veteran, who is ranked only 122nd in the world, have denied all the odds to reach this stage. He’s already played 5 matches here, at Washington, and were stated as a heavy underdog in absolutely all of them. Gojowczyk had the strongest opposition of all the participants of the semi-finals as he had to play against D. Young, A. De Minaur, A. Rublev, M. Raonic and K. Edmund. Funny fact about Gojowczyk at this tournament: If you have a bet, let’s say, 100 dollars on Gojowzcyk to win on every match he played, you would have got around 1460 dollars right now. That only shows what an incredible tournament this veteran is having. Of course, Medvedev is a lot talented player, but we can’t overestimate Gojowczyk anymore as he proved that he can do unexpected here.
