Colby Covington vs Robbie Lawler is one more great fight of Ultimate Fighting Championship. It is the main event of UFC on ESPN. It’s the welterweight bout which will take place in Newark, New Jersey. Both welterweights will have a serious confrontation. Review our thoughts on this bout here below.

On the 3rd of August UFC returns to New Jersey. The event will mark the promotion’s eighth visit to the Prudential Center. In the main event of the evening former undisputed UFC welterweight champion, Robbie ‘Ruthless’ Lawler (28-13, 1NC) will face former interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington (14-1). It is a very interesting fight because both fighters are dangerous strikers and true brawlers.

Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington

Colby Covington hasn’t fought since he won interim welterweight title against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 back in June 2018. He won that fight by unanimous decision. Then Covington had surgery and later had been stripped of the title. Unless he is not a champion, Colby claims that he is the one and only true American champion. Now Covington is more known for trash-talking everyone in the world, than his actions in the octagon. But on the 3rd of August, he is back and will try to stop ‘Ruthless’. As good as American is in the trash-talk, he is a good fighter too. He is a very active fighter. In the fight, he throws a lot of punches and attempts takedown after takedown. Also ‘People’s Champ’ is a great wrestler. Covington has amazing gas tank because his peace is outstanding.

Robbie ‘Ruthless’ Lawler

Robbie Lawler is coming off a controversial stoppage against Ben Askren back in March 2019 at UFC 235. As Askren was squeezing bulldog choke referee Herb Dean got close to check if Robbie Lawler is good. But Lawler’s shoulder appeared to go limp for a second so Herb Dean had to stop the fight. But after the horn, Lawler instantly sprang to his feet and protested the stoppage to Dean that he was not out. And he wasn’t. After that fight, he was scheduled to fight Tyron Woodley, but unfortunately, Woodley injured himself and was pulled out from the fight. Now Lawler is facing former interim champion and it will be another hard serious for him.  Robbie Lawler is an elite, explosive striker, throws heavy hands, knees. Also, he has a good striking defense.  “Ruthless” is extremely experienced, has lots of championship fight experience.
