The second round of Roland Garros and what an interesting match is waiting for us. Current 7th in the world Kei Nishikori meets one of the best known French players Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The game should be entertaining and to have more insights on his Kei Nishikori vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga ATP match please check out the preview below.
Kei Nishikori
Nishikori has started the season well as he’s won 7 out of 10 games but haven’t managed to run deep into any of the tournaments he played. Nishikori dropped out of the tournament in 1/16 final last year. He lost to Dominic Thiem who found his way into the final where he lost to Nadal. It means that Nishikori doesn’t have a lot of points to defend here. If he runs deep in this tournament he might get into top 5 in ATP rankings. Motivation should not be questionable here as everyone understands how important this tournament is and Kei should shine in his brightest colors as he is definitely able to compete with the best ones in the world.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Tsonga hasn’t played in Roland Garros last year because he was injured most of the last season. It seems like he’s fully recovered and ready to play but his physical ability to keep up the pace in Grand Slam is still questionable as we haven’t seen him playing this kind of tournament after injuries. Frenchman looked good in Lyon as he only lost to Basilashvili in 3the rd round and the first round of French open where he faced Gojowczyk and won the match 3 sets to 1. It wasn’t the most convincing victory but everyone who watched the game should agree that Tsonga looked like the better players in the whole game. If Tsonga shows the tennis he is capable of the game might be a really close one.
