Clay court season has been already on the way another tournament is gonna be held in Morocco ATP Tournament in sunny Marrakech. Wednesday presents as what’s expected to be a mouth-watering second-round clash between Britain’s number 1 Kyle Edmund and one of the top Frenchmen of this generation Jo Wilfried Tsonga. Both talented players will play in a serious confrontation. Review our thoughts on this match here below.

Kyle Edmund

A lot is to be expected from the young Kyle Edmund from the British. Especially when Andy Murray is out of the radar. Kyle is taking place in a solid 22 in ATP rankings. Edmund has already lifted a trophy in this years Indian Wells challenger. A field was tough as this challenger went almost simultaneously with the Masters tournament. Kyle is having a decent season and now he begins this years clay court swing in a tournament which seems like he likes – Marrakech. Last year he finished here as a runner up.

Edmund likes to hit heavy blows from the baseline dictating with his brilliant forehand. His technique is quite unusual and the grip is extreme but boy what a forehand that is! A combination of heavy topspin and power makes it one of the best on the tour. His backhand is limited so likes to run around it. A very good serve and decent mover not great though.

Jo Tsonga

Jo Tsonga – french star one of the most famous and liked tennis players all around the globe for the last decade. Most of his career he spent in top 10 a former grand slam finalist and multiple semifinalists. Lots of other ATP titles under his belt. Coming back from yet another injury Jo is looking to soon be back into the form we’re used to see. He has already won a tournament on indoor hardback in France Metz. And this is gonna his first tournament on the red dirt. Though clay isn’t his preferred surface he did have some great results on it showing the versatile and great player that he is.

Tsonga is an ultra-aggressive player. Has a huge server and a massive forehand. A very strong big guy and when his shoulder’s open up, some crushing winners start to fire from all over the court. Moves very well around the court and has very good footwork as he likes to run around his backhand a lot. Mainly because he always struggled with it and his forehand is that great. Chooses the slice on the backhand side most often and waits for the best opportunity to attack from the forehand and doesn’t hesitate when one presents itself.

H2H

Players haven’t met before. It’s really difficult to pick a winner in this one.
